R for Radical: a perfect description for this Renault Megane, which is unlike any other.
It builds on the foundations of the Megane R.S. F1 Team R26 whilst outperforming it in every respect. With its fibreglass bodywork and the removal of numerous accessories, it loses weight whilst gaining performance. Although road-legal, it is designed first and foremost for the track. This superbly engineered GTI proved its worth on the legendary Nürburgring circuit on 23 June 2008 at 9.30 am.
It broke the circuit record in its class, clocking an incredible time of 8 minutes, 17 seconds and 54 hundredths. A record that would not be beaten until… 2019, by the very latest Megane RS.
