In the 1990s, the Golf was Volkswagen’s flagship model. A wide range of variants were available: GTI, estate, convertible… there was something for everyone. Then, in 1991, Volkswagen had a crazy idea: to fit a V6 engine into a compact saloon. The Golf III VR6 was born! Initially offered with a 2.8-litre engine producing 174 horsepower, it later adopted a 2.9-litre unit delivering 190 horsepower.

This model is also a gem of engineering, as it took considerable ingenuity to fit the large V6 engine into a compact car. A 15-degree engine angle adjustment did the trick. Visually, this Golf VR6 is very understated and reveals its sportiness only through the addition of BBS wheels. A small VR6 badge on the grille also serves as a reminder that this is a truly different model. This becomes immediately apparent when you start the engine. The sound of the V6 is unmistakable and leaves you in awe.

It invites you on a journey and transforms this compact saloon into a spellbinding world.
