Initially, the “Escort” finish referred to Ford’s entry-level models. Later, the Escort became a model in its very own right. It was one of the best-selling cars from Ford’s European division between the 1960s and the late 1990s. The XR3i is the sporty version of this third-generation Escort. The “i” indicates that it features fuel injection. Like many Fords from that era, it became an iconic model in the United Kingdom! In its convertible version, it continues a “so British” tradition.
